Biography

2023-24

Mikel Brown Jr. had an excellent season for the Cold Hearts, landing on the All-OTE Second Team as the team’s offensive maestro. Brown Jr. established himself as one of the league’s premiere playmakers finishing out the regular season averaging 5.4 APG, the fifth highest mark in the league. Brown Jr. put his playmaking on full display in the playoffs, when he dished out 11 assists in Game 2 of the semi-finals which is tied for the most assists in a game during the 2023-24 season.

On top of his elite playmaking abilities, Brown Jr. was also one of OTE’s most skilled players at putting the ball through the hoop. Second on the Cold Hearts in scoring at 13.4 PPG, Brown Jr. found a myriad of ways to get his points. Of the 60 players to attempt 10 or more free throws in the regular season, Brown Jr. led the way in free throw percentage, knocking down a remarkable 87.5% of his attempts. He was also one of the most feared shooters from deep, as he rounded out the season with a 37.8% shooting clip from deep which was the tenth best in the league. Brown Jr. was no slouch on the defensive end either, finishing fifth in the playoffs with an average of 2.3 SPG.

Mikel Brown Jr. is a 6-2 point guard from Orlando, FL. Mikel played last season at Sunrise Christian before transferring to OTE. This summer he was welcomed to Damian Lillard’s Formula Zero Elite Camp, making him 1 of 20 high school players chosen from across the country. Mikel was also named one of the top performers at Southern Jam Fest. He comes from a family of athletes with his father playing basketball in college at USC Aiken and West Florida and mom played volleyball in college.
