Biography
After a breakout season as the Dream Tryout winner for the Cold Hearts last season, Marcus Gillespie returns this year with even bigger aspirations. Gillespie comes into the 2025-26 season as the 166th ranked player in the class of 2026, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. In the 2024-25 regular season, Gillespie shot a blistering 43.1% from three on 9.5 attempts per 40, which was the best mark at OTE. In the playoffs, Gillespie went even more nuclear, knocking down 54.8% of his triples on 5.2 attempts per game, far and away the best mark of all players in the postseason. One of the biggest risers in the playoffs, Gillespie averaged 15.0 PPG, up from the 7.7 PPG he averaged in the regular season.
Gillespie was one of 20 players to compete at the 2024 OTE Dream Tryout and became the first player ever selected to join OTE from the OTE Dream Tryout. He scored 28 points at the 2024 OTE Dream Tryout scrimmage, the most of any player. Gillespie spent the summer playing for the Atlanta Express on the Under Armour circuit and also participated in the NBPA Top 100.
