Biography
2023-24
In his first year with OTE, big man John Bol made history throughout the season, most notably becoming one of the first McDonald’s All-Americans in OTE. After establishing himself as one of the elite paint protectors in the country, Bol was one of three players from OTE to be named as a McDonald’s All-American on January 23, 2024. On top of his national accomplishment, Bol was also one of five players to be named to the All-OTE First Team. Bol finished as the runner-up for Defensive Player of the Year as there was no better rim protector in the league during the 2023-24 season.
Bol was widely regarded as the league’s premiere shot blocker as he led all players to play ten or more games with 1.8 BPG during the regular season. He tied for the fifth most blocks in a single game this season with four in a dominant performance in a win over the Blue Checks in which he also led the team with 22 points and pulled down an additional 15 boards. Bol was a top tier rebounder as well, finishing as the number one rebound getter in the regular season with 9.9 RPG. He pulled down 18 boards in a game on two separate occasions, both of which are tied for the second most rebounds in a game this season. On top of all of the dirty work Bol accomplished for the Cold Hearts, he was also one of the league’s most efficient scorers as he made 59.5% of his shots on the season, the second best mark in the entire league.
Bol is committed to attend Ole Miss to play college basketball for the 2024-25 season.
Prep
Originally from South Sudan, John started playing basketball in 2019 while living in Nairobi. He moved to the US in 2021 and made an immediate impact at St. Louis Christian Brothers, where he broke the school record in blocks as a sophomore. John transferred to Sunrise Christian for his junior season. He plays for Mokan Elite on the EYBL circuit and is fluent in five languages including Arabic, English and Swahili.
