Team Overtime found itself back in first place after going 2-0 this weekend beating Our Saviour Lutheran and Combine Academy.
Overtime Elite finished 5-1 overall, dropping the last game as Team OTE fell to Our Saviour Lutheran, 89-80.
With another big weekend at OTE Arena, there were stars in the building to take in the action. Carmelo Anthony is in town with the Lakers set to play the Hawks on Sunday and came by and took in all three games.
The next time Overtime Elite is in action is Friday, February 4. The game is presented by Billionaire Boys Club and will feature a performance by BLXST.
Team Elite 55 vs. Sunrise Christian Prep 53
Team Elite controlled the game from the jump until the very end.
They led by 13 going into the fourth quarter and Sunrise Christian Prep made things interesting. They ended up out scoring Team Elite 22-11 in the final frame, but Team Elite held on 55-53.
Sunrise Christian had two looks before the buzzer sounded to tie the game, but couldn’t get the shots to fall.
Emmanuel Maldonado led the team in scoring with 13 points. It was the first time he led the team in scoring this season and an OTE career high.
Bryson Warren and Ausar Thompson also scored in double figures for the game.
Team Overtime 67 vs. Combine Academy 57
Team Overtime continued their dominance as they never trailed this weekend and stayed undefeated against external competition.
After leading by 10 at halftime, Combine Academy cut the lead to three going into the fourth quarter. Team Overtime was too much for them. Their defense locked in holding Combine to just 10 points in the fourth to secure the victory.
Six players scored in double figures for Team Overtime with Jean Montero leading the team with 14. He also had eight rebounds and four steals. Jai Smith matched Montero with eight rebounds and put up 11 points on the board.
Team OTE 89 vs. Our Saviour Lutheran 80
Our Saviour Lutheran controlled the entire game against Team OTE in the final game of the night. They pushed their lead out to 20 in the second quarter digging a deep hole for Team OTE to climb out of.
Team OTE’s intensity picked up in the second half and cut the lead down to five in the fourth quarter, but Our Saviour Lutheran had a response to every run they tried to make.
Johned Walker posted a career high and led all scorers with 23 points. He also had six assists and six rebounds.
For the second straight night, Tyler Smith posted an OTE career high. Last night, he had 17 points and tonight he had 18 points.
