Overtime Elite hosted its second prep series event in Atlantic Station on Friday, November 19.
The highlight of the night was Jean Montero having the league’s first triple double with 19 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds. His big night pushed his team to a 19-point win against Colorado Prep.
Montero had support all around him too as Dominick Barlow went for 18 points and Jazian Gortman had 17.
Overall, it was a tough night for Overtime Elite on the floor as they ended up going 1-2 dropping its games against We Are United and Word of God.
OTE will be back on the court looking to get back on track on Saturday, November 20 starting at 3 p.m.
Team Overtime 94 vs. Colorado Prep 75
Team Overtime used a big second half to stay undefeated on the season after taking down Colorado Prep 94-75 in the first game of the weekend.
A big part of that was Montero’s triple double. Overall, five players finished in double figures on Team Overtime. One of those was a career high for Nathan Missia-Dio with 11 points.
Colorado Prep kept the game tight through the first half and even took a lead into the break at 40-39.
Team Overtime took control in the third quarter out scoring Colorado prep 30-16 and never looked back.
Team Elite 64 vs. We Are United 73 In the second game of the night, Team Elite got out to a great start leading 21-5 after the first quarter.
We Are United didn’t quit though and answered with a big second quarter out scoring Team Elite by nine to get right back in the game by halftime. After both teams stayed even in the third, We Are United kept pushing in the fourth.
They finally got over the hump and once they took the lead they didn’t give it back, going on to win 73-64.
Overall, Team Elite led for over 34 minutes. Jalen Lewis and Bryson Warren each had 12 points. Davion Mace had a career high with 11 points.
Ausar Thompson pulled down 16 rebounds.
Team OTE 92 vs. Word of God 96 Matt Bewley had a huge night scoring 24 points and grabbing 14 rebounds, but despite that monster effort, Word of God controlled the game.
A big part of that was their second quarter where they went up 38-29 at halftime.
Both teams came out in the third and got up and down the floor with the highest scoring quarter of all three games. Each team combined for 65 points, but the problem for Team OTE was they only gained one point heading into the fourth down eight.
Team OTE kept the pressure on in the fourth tying the score up late, but Word of God edged back out in front to clip Team OTE at the end.
A big part of getting the win for Word of God was Freddie Dillione having a triple double scoring 28 points, having 11 rebounds and 10 assists.
Johned Walker had 18 points in the game and TJ Clark scored 16.
