Overtime Elite's Season Rolls on after Holidays

Overtime Elite is back after a holiday break as the regular season rolls on with the City Reapers taking on the Cold Hearts this Friday, January 6 at 7 p.m. on Amazon Prime.

The City Reapers have been rolling this season, leading the league with a 9-0 record. The Cold Hearts are looking to start the new year strong sitting at 3-5 on the season. They got a big win over the Hillcrest Bruins in their last game and will look to keep that momentum rolling.

As the league enters the second part of the season, some teams made roster adjustments to gear up for the final stretch of the regular season before the playoffs begin.

Roster Movement

The Cold Hearts made the most moves looking to get back in the race, picking up Somto Cyril, Johned Walker and Malik Bowman from the City Reapers. To get these three players, the Cold Hearts are sending Trey Parker, Jayden Williams, Bryson Tiller and Ralph Martino to the City Reapers.

To balance out their roster, the City Reapers shipped Jahki Howard to the YNG Dreamerz for future considerations to finish off the player movement during the OTE trade window.

Cold Hearts Roster Additions

The Cold Hearts needed some help on defense and got it picking up Somto Cyril, Johned Walker and Malik Bowman.

Cyril has been an imposing force for the City Reapers this season. The 250-pound big man with a 7-5 wingspan leads the league in blocks averaging 3.4 per game. He’s now teammates with the other block leader in the league, Matt Bewley. The two will lock down the lane for the Cold Hearts.

Johned Walker has been one of the best defensive guards in the league going back to last season. His quickness will make it difficult for guards to get by him and he’ll instantly boost the Cold Hearts perimeter defense while being reliable from the perimeter on offense.

City Reapers Push On

The City Reapers lose two dynamic defenders, but will still be the league favorites with Amen and Ausar Thompson controlling the games. Their additions will fit in nicely on the team as well.

Bryson Tiller has been consistent this season scoring in double figures in every game but one. In his latest game, he showed his full range of potential leading his team with 20 points and 15 rebounds. He is the league leader in double-doubles with five on the season so far.

Trey Parker was a spark plug and he’ll continue to do that with the City Reapers. They get out in transition as much as anyone in the league with their strong defense and lead the league in dunks per game with 10.4 per game. He's averaging 13.4 points per game this season with two 20-point games.

Despite losing Cyril and his 7-5 wingspan, the Reapers are still adding a player with another 7-5 wingspan in Jayden Williams. He’s averaging 6.7 points per game, 4.0 rebounds per game and 2.0 blocks per game.

Cold Hearts vs. City Reapers this Friday

We’ll get to see the Cold Hearts and the City Reapers this Friday with their new additions in action. They have played once this season with the City Reapers winning 110-93.

The Reapers briefly set the OTE scoring record with 110 points on that night. Amen and Ausar Thompson were sensational again as Amen led the team with 23 points, eight assists and seven rebounds and Ausar had 23 points, nine rebounds and five rebounds. Johned Walker showed out as well with 20 points, seven assists and five steals.

The Reapers came out on fire offensively and defensively leading 34-19 after the first quarter. They didn’t let up after that with constant pressure. In 24 minutes of playing time, Walker was +32 and Amen was +30 for the game.

Trey Parker led the Cold Hearts with 21 points hitting six threes. Four other players scored in double figures.
