Team Elite Hands Team Overtime First Loss

Team Elite got a big win over previously undefeated Team Overtime 70-64 on Tuesday night at OTE Arena in Atlantic Station.

Needing a big run, Team Overtime got their offense going in the fourth quarter, shooting almost 70 percent on two-pointers and went 2-3 from behind the arc to make things close coming down the stretch.

With 1:22 to go in the game, TJ Clark capped a 13-2 run and gave Team Overtime a 63-62 lead. It was their first lead since late in the second quarter.

Ausar Thompson on Team Elite came right back with a layup and then drew an offensive foul to get his team the ball back. Johned Walker took advantage with a driving layup to put Team Elite up 66-63.

From there, Team Elite locked down on defense and made their free throws to secure the 70-64 victory. After giving up the lead, they held Team Overtime to only one more point over the final 1:22.

Ryan Bewley had his best game in an OTE uniform scoring 18 points going 9-10 from the field. Three other teammates joined him in double figures with Thompson having 15, Walker having 13 and Bryson Warren scoring 12.

Thompson led the team in rebounds with six and also had three assists. He was a force all night taking the ball to the hoop drawing six fouls from Team Overtime.

When Team Elite made their big run in the third quarter to give them their largest lead of the night, they did it by shooting 14-20 from the floor.

The loss was the first for Team Overtime this season. They were led by Dominick Barlow, who finished with 19 points and eight rebounds. He went 4-7 from three-point land for the evening.

The next action in OTE Arena will be Saturday, December 18, when Team Elite will play Team OTE at 7 p.m.
