OTE Dominates Competition on Saturday

Overtime Elite capped its opening weekend by going 6-0 with three dominating performances at the OTE Arena in Atlantic Station.

Each team won by at least 23 points keeping a full house entertained throughout the night.

Team Elite coached by Dave Leitao got the night started and led by as many as 36 points before closing it out 95-61. No scoring record is safe at OTE as Ausar Thompson set a new bench mark with 32 points while also collecting 11 rebounds. Jaylen Martin also got it going, chipping in with 20 points of his own.

Team Elite outscored Calvary Christian by double-digits in two of the four quarters giving the visiting team no shot at a comeback.

In the second game of the night, Team Overtime played Vertical Academy. Overtime led by eight at half before busting the game wide open in the second half outscoring Vertical Academy 51-31 making the final score 94-66.

Lewis Duarte led the team in scoring for the second night in a row with 22 points and Jean Montero was right behind him with 19. Montero had his second double-double in a row finishing with 11 rebounds as well.

Jai Smith came out extremely aggressive grabbing 16 rebounds while also having 14 points.

In the final game of the night, Team OTE took it to Dr. Phillips winning 87-64. They spread the ball around once again, having 22 assists for the second night in a row. Five of the seven players that saw action scored in double figures.

Matt Bewley led the team with 19 points and had 14 rebounds. Amen Thompson played a big part in facilitating things for his teammates, having nine assists.

This wraps up OTE’s opening weekend with a perfect start as all teams go 6-0. They will now hit the road for their first road trip, traveling to North Carolina to take on Combine Academy, Winston Salem Christian and Liberty Heights on Monday and Tuesday.
