City Reapers Steal the Show on OTE Opening Night

Overtime Elite kicked off its second season with a double header at OTE Arena between the City Reapers and OSL Falcons and the YNG Dreamerz against the Hillcrest Bruins on Friday, November 4 in Atlantic Station.

The first game of the night between the Reapers and Falcons was OTE’s first broadcast on Amazon Prime and the fans got a great game.

Ausar Thompson showed why NBA teams are so interested in him for next summer’s draft, finishing with 20 points, six assists, six rebounds and three steals with eight NBA teams in the building.

Trailing by as many as eight in the fourth quarter, the City Reapers buckled down on defense. They closed the final 3:44 with a 15-0 run to get the win. In the run, Ausar hit his third three of the night to tie the game at 85 and Amen Thompson helped ice the game going 5-5 from the free throw line in the final minutes.

In the first half, the Reapers had a lead as big as 13, but the Falcons refused to go away scrapping their way to the seven-point lead in the fourth quarter.

Amen and Johned Walker both finished with 14 points and Malik Bowman had 10. Somto Cyril made a huge impact when he was on the floor finishing the game with a +24 on the night.

OSL was led by Armoni Zeigler with 21 points and Youssoff Singare with 18 points.

The City Reapers move to 1-0 on the season after the 92-88 win.

In the second game of the night between the YNG Dreamerz and Hillcrest Bruins, the Dreamerz came to play. They turned a five-point lead after the first quarter into a 20-point lead at halftime and cruised from there.
