The story of the night at OTE Arena was the Cold Hearts snapping their losing streak with a 91-79 victory over the Hillcrest Bruins on Saturday night. The two teams were tied at 60 after three and the Cold Hearts used a late surge to get the 12-point win and their third victory of the season.
Bryson Tiller was a huge factor in the victory posting two career highs with 20 points and 15 rebounds. He also added four assists on the night.
The Bruins played tough all night taking a three-point lead into halftime. They held that lead through the third quarter making things interesting until late in the fourth. In the final minutes, the Cold Hearts stretched their lead out to as much as 14 moving their record to 3-5 on the season.
In the first game of the night, the City Reapers took care of business against the OSL Falcons. The Falcons led 6-5 early and the Reapers turned it up a couple of notches. They ran off a 16-4 run to make the score 21-10 and then went on a 23-0 run to lead 44-10 in the second quarter. The Falcons played hard the rest of the way, but the damage had been done.
Eli Ellis had 24 points hitting six more threes tonight. In the two games played this weekend, he made six threes in both games going 12-22 overall. Johned Walker was right behind him with 23 points hitting five threes of his own.
The biggest lead of the night for the Reapers was 46 points and they led 39 minutes of the contest. The Falcons never led once in the game.
The Reapers improved to 9-0 on the season to remain in first place.
Now, all six OTE teams will get a break for the holidays. The next game is Friday, January 6 between the City Reapers and YNG Dreamerz.
