Lewis Drops 30 to Lead YNG Past the Bruins

Jalen Lewis continued his dominance on the road in Phoenix by posting 30 points and 13 rebounds to lead the YNG Dreamerz to the win over the Bruins 97-89.

It was a career high for Lewis, who has played some of his best basketball on the road this season. In three games playing outside of OTE Arena, he’s averaged 24.67 points per game. Tonight was his first double-double of the year.

YNG raced out to a double-digit lead in the first quarter and held the Bruins to just 12 points in the first ten minutes. They got a little loose with the ball in the second quarter though and Hillcrest made their run to come back and tie the game at half 39-39.

Coming out of the break, Jazian Gortman got his team going and they put up 32 in the quarter and led by 14 heading into the fourth. The Bruins didn’t go away answering with 34 in the fourth and played hard to the final whistle, but YNG held on to get the road win.

The win by the Dreamerz secures the two seed in the playoffs and a first round bye.

Five Dreamerz scored in double figures in the game. Jaylen Martin had 16 and TJ Clark had 15. Izan Almansa finished the game with 12 rebounds and was a key part in helping YNG win the rebounding battle 51-41.

Jordan Burks led Hillcrest with 27 points and 10 rebounds. Jason Asemota had 17 points.

Hillcrest will finish the season by traveling to the Bronx to take on the OSL Falcons. They’ll play two games this weekend with the first on Friday and second on Saturday. The Dreamerz will be back in Atlanta this weekend taking on the Word of God Holy Rams on Friday and Saturday night.
