The YNG Dreamerz and Cold Hearts both captured wins on the second night of the season in front of a sold-out crowd at OTE Arena.
Jaylen Martin was the star of the night leading the YNG Dreamerz to an 86-80 victory over the OSL Falcons with 27 points and 14 rebounds.
The Dreamerz controlled the first half leading by 13, but just like last night, the Falcons weren’t going to go away. They went on a big 31-17 run in the third quarter to go up by one into the fourth.
Both teams traded the lead back and forth early in the quarter, until the Dreamerz went on an 8-0 run. The Falcons couldn’t get within four after that run as the Dreamerz moved to 2-0 on the season.
Martin scored 19 of his 27 points in the second half. Bryson Warren finished with 17 points and Jazian Gortman had 15.
In the second game of the night the Cold Hearts got their season started the right way with a victory over the Hillcrest Bruins 92-75.
They used a huge night from Matt Bewley, who scored 26 points and added 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. Bryce Griggs also recorded a double-double with 11 points and an OTE single-game record in assists with 13.
It was a complete team effort for the Cold Hearts overall with six players scoring in double figures.
The losses tonight move the Falcons and the Bruins to 0-2 to start the season.
Before their game, it was announced that newly signed to OTE Rob Dillingham was joining the Cold Hearts. He’ll be making his debut with the Cold Hearts on Amazon Prime next Friday, November 11 at 7 p.m. In the second game on the 11th, the City Reapers will take on Word of God.
