OTE Ready for Big 2022 after Successful Launch

With the holiday season approaching, Overtime Elite has finished the first portion of their inaugural season in Atlanta.

The transformative new league was announced on March 4 and since that announcement, they built a 103,000 square foot facility, put a full schedule together, signed 27 basketball stars from around the world and began playing games in an arena that’s one of a kind.

Opening weekend was October 29 and it delivered in every aspect to the sold out crowd while hosting Vertical Academy, Dr. Phillips Basketball Club and the KT Kings.

In the second game of the night, Team Elite played Mike Williams and Vertical Academy. Trailing late, Bryce Griggs hit back-to-back threes to tie the score pushing the game to overtime. At OTE, overtime is untimed and it’s the first team to score four points. With a chance to win the game, Griggs found Bryson Warren in the corner who hit a walk-off three pointer for the win.

Overtime Elite closed out their first weekend 6-0 while putting on a show.

After kicking things off in their own arena, they immediately hit the road for their first road trip. They traveled up to North Carolina to take on Combine Academy, Winston Salem Christian and Liberty Heights.

All three of the North Carolina teams pushed the OTE teams, but Overtime Elite remained undefeated. One more game did go to overtime and Griggs once again came up big hitting a game-winning shot. In another game, Ausar Thompson went to work scoring 33 points and hitting a game winner.

Each of the three teams have played at least 10 games now against each other and outside competition. NBA scouts have shown up and OTE players have delivered.

Highly touted Jean Montero has shown why he’s been showing up as a lottery pick in mock drafts. He’s been in complete control on the court and his team has not lost when he’s played. Showing his complete control of every aspect of the game, Montero has two triple doubles through the early going of the season as well.

Team Overtime leads the standings with a combined record of 10-1, giving them 12 points. Team OTE is right behind them with nine points and Team Elite has eight points.

In addition to the on-court play being extremely high, the stars have shown out in Atlanta to support OTE.

The Overtime Elite schedule will pick back up in January at OTE Arena.
